New bar in Hong Kong serves tap sake

To cope with the demand for sake in China, the boutique bar Saketen opens to serve sake on tap. It thus becomes one of the few outside Japan to serve this way. There are also exclusive bottled editions of the Japanese drink.

The bar is located in central Hong Kong. Its interior design is elegant and exclusive, colorful and illuminated. An area of 400 sqft welcomes both social tasters and connoisseurs.

Saketen was founded by none other than Elliot Faber, a renowned sake expert and certified sommelier. He is also one of the fashion markers for this drink in the city, and includes in his curriculum other sake bars such as Ronin or Yardbird.

Over 40 varieties of sake

In Saketen you can find more than 40 varieties of sake from 10 artisan producers. These change according to the season of the year. You can find sake from exclusive but important producers such as Hakutsuru, or more popular ones such as Ninhonshu Oendan.

Other sake products include Domaine Senkin, Shichiken, Fukuju, Choryo, Katsuyama, Takizawa and Daimon. All of these producers have a special characteristic that highlights their territory.

Tap Sake

Seketen’s sake throw up as a novelty in the Asian country, being one of the few bars serving sake in this way, outside Japan. From Japan, they send the sake in special, temperature-controlled kegs ready to serve the sake in batches.

From Monday to Saturday after work until 8 pm it is possible to taste companions such as sushi crackers, and small bites.
