That’s Philippe Giraud’s goal. A top-of-the-range Scotch made in France, reflected in Alfred Giraud whisky.
The grandson of a master cellar from Rémy Martin, Philippe knows the speciality very well. Together with André, Philippe was able to create this premium whisky in the country of cognac. Experienced, he was part of William Grant & Sons from a young age, until he said goodbye in 2004 to settle in Miami.
As a whisky enthusiast, there he founded a distributor of the precious liquor with editions of cultured Scotch whisky.
But to perpetuate the family’s whisky expert vein, Philippe decides to create his own whisky. Supported by expert distillers and the Saint-Palais distillery. Together they make whisky from top-quality French barley. They then age the nectar in old cognac barrels, and in new wooden barrels from the Limousin region.
Only the two new Alfred Giraud whiskies have seen the light. According to Figaro, it is perhaps the first luxury French whisky that aspires to become the French version of Macallan. Giraud, however, says the key is wood.
