A spirit drink made from wood is being developped in Japan and you can drink it!

A spirit drink based on fermented wood is being developed in Japan by scientists to create what would be the first alcohol produced in this way and which has an immediate aroma of the wood used. Japan Today has reported.

According to Japan Today and the AFP, Kengo Magara, a member of the scientific team of the Japan’s Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute that develops the drink, it would be completely potable, and would not generate any risk since it does not require high temperatures or sulfuric acid to decompose the wood.

The woods used to make the drink are cedar, birch and cherry. The date of launch and the type of spirit drink to which it will result has not yet been defined.

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
