“Nihonshu no Hi” means World Sake Day. This day is celebrated every first of October and is a tribute to the typical Japanese drink.

And it is not celebrated for no reason. Every first of October, the production of sake in the country begins in the traditional way. This season is just the right time to harvest the sake rice. Winter is also the ideal time for fermentation.

This day is celebrated in several cities around the world such as London in Sushisamba, where special dishes and cocktails are prepared for the occasion. But the biggest celebration takes place in the city of San Francisco. There, some 200 varieties of sake are offered for tasting.

Don’t hesitate to check out your city’s events and see if there’s a celebration of the nippon drink for you to enjoy.

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
