India. Increase of sales of liquor in the country in 2018 after restriction lifeted by the Court

The liquor business in India is boasting. Sales have increased of 20% already in 2018. The market is expected to grow annually by 7.9% (CAGR 2018-2021), following the low sales in the last two years due to the restrictions imposed by the Court.

So far in 2018, revenues amount to US$67,661m. Among the main alcoholic beverages sold are beer, wine, spirits, cider, perry and rice wines. While Diageo-controlled United Spirits have experience decrease in sales (of 2 %) United Breweries sales by volume rose 6%

According to The Economic Times India, restrictions on liquor sales have been removed, leading closed outlets to reopen for liquor sale.
