A country so rich in maple should have invented a maple whiskey! Discover Tomahawk here.

One of the most recent trends is the preparation of maple-based spirits, especially in Canada. The main maple syrup production regions are in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

In 2018 alone, Canada exported C$405.6 million worth of maple syrup worldwide. Between 2014 and 2018, 1,309 products containing maple syrup were launched in the top five Canadian maple syrup export markets.

On the alcohol side, maple can be used to create maple schnapps, maple cream, maple-flavored vodka, maple liqueur…. Maple-based spirits are divided into two categories:

-Maple sap fermentation: a base that can be made into aperitifs, sparkling wines and fortified wines such as porto.

-Mixing maple syrup: with whiskies, sweet wine, vodka, creamers, beer and sparkling wines.

Among the producers of maple-based spirits, we find Tomahawk. It is a Canadian brand of the Distillerie Shefford distillery. Their maple whiskey is made with Canadian rye and pure maple is added to it. A sweet and smooth delight for lovers of both rye whiskey and maple.

It should be noted that the alcohol level is quite tolerable, with 32% alcohol, so it is very easy to drink.

In addition, Distillerie Shefford also produces a maple cream whiskey. Perfect for sipping over ice cream or in a glass with a nice block of ice.

You can obtain it through the SAQ.

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
