In Kenya, bartender Angeliqua Rivera won the award for best Bartender World Class of the Year 2019 for Diageo.
Diageo has been running the World Class Competition in Kenya for five years. After a rigorous training for bartenders and mixologists, they compete for the place to represent the country internationally.
This year the fifth edition of Kenya took place last June 19 at EABL Tusker Grounds.
Beginning in May, the month-long competition awarded the prize to the best bartender: Angeliqua Rivera. For her know-how, she will represent Kenya at the World Class international competition in September 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland. As a bartender at the Dusit D2 Hotel, Angeliqua Rivera proved Diageo her talent and being the best student in Kenya.
Additionnaly, Rivera won the Smoke Integration Challenge during the competition.
Among the other finalist winners of World Class Bartender Kenya are:
- Josephine Ng’Uono, (Park Inn by Radisson), won the Social Media Challenge
- Redempta Muluka won the Techtonic Challenge
- Nicholas Nd’Ungu won the Finishing Moves Challenge
- Brian Onyongo won the Popular Punch Challenge
The Finals of Diageo World Class 2019
The final of Diageo World Class 2019 will take place in Scotland, in the city of Glasgow. This eleventh edition of the World Class is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from around the world, each of whom will attempt to follow in the footsteps of the 2018 World Class Bartender of the Year, Orlando Marzo (Australia).
