Founded in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the oldest and largest competition of its kind.

Tasting Alliance competitions are considered the most influential for a reason. Winning a medal from the organization not only helps brands enter and stand out in the U.S. and international markets, but is a critical step for any producer to gain industry and consumer recognition.

During the evaluation process, the competition emphasizes integrity and fairness. The blind tasting process ensures that all entries are judged fairly and receive equal consideration.

With nearly two decades of experience, the SFWSC is one of the most respected spirits competitions in the world, due in large part to its esteemed judges. Each with a distinct history and a trusted palate, these seasoned experts are one of the reasons why an SFWSC medal indicates the highest caliber of quality.

The SFWSC has also held a cocktail competition in the past with renowned mixologists acting as judges, such as Dale Degroff.

Each year’s results are closely watched, both by consumers eager for expert judgments and, more importantly, by the trade, especially the distributor community. Many craft distilleries have found that SFWSC recognition is the golden key to gaining wide national and often international distribution. Even established producers look to the SFWSC to confirm their core ranges, as well as to validate new products and new production techniques,” says Joseph V Micallef, wine and spirits writer for magazines such as Forbes.
