Ireland is known worldwide for its outstanding bars. We see “Irish pub” style bars installed all over the globe promoting their culture. Is not surprise that an event as “Bar of the Year” would be as important in this region. This year’s winner is a hotspot from Cork, the Cask.

Las Monday night in Dublin, Tom Dunne announced at the gala ceremony the victory of this cocktail bar from Cork located on MacCurtain Street, beating over 500 participating entries.

The Cask has won not only the biggest award of the year, but also the Contemporary Bar award, with its authentic interior design as one the characteristics that convinced the judges.

The city of Cork also won four other awards: The Franciscan Well as Tourist Bar, The Shelbourne Bar as Whiskey bar of the Year, The Oyster Tavern won the City Bar of the Year and Traford Murphy of Ballymaloe House obtained the Cocktail Bartender of the Year award.

Bars in Ireland continues innovating their style and quality. This time the city of Cork has demonstrated its cultural pride of traditional bars with attractive and contemporary touches.
