Three new whiskies from the Speyside distillery, The Balvenie, have recently been released worldwide with one particular feature: a QR code.
The Balvenie Stories comprises three single malts, a 12 year old The Sweet Toast of American Oak, a 14 year old The Week of Peat and a 26 year old A Day of Dark Barkley. Each bottle contains a short story with a QR code to discover the full version of each story.
Each bottle tells the story of the workers, the character, commitment and skill of the distillery.
David Stewart, malting master, says about them: “Each expression in the collection reflects this by telling its own story through first-hand accounts and memories of the many people involved.”
Bottles start at $57 for The Sweet Toast of American Oak. Its notes oscillate between sweet orange and lemon shell, vanilla caramel and butter caramel, honey, brown sugar and oak.
The Week of Peat costs $83. It’s said to be a classic version of Balvenie whiskey. Notes of vanilla, honey, citrus and smoked.
Finally, A Day of Dark Barkley costs $762. Its notes: toffee sweetness, orange peel, oak vanilla, cinnamon and ginger spices.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
