Launched by Matías Jurisich, it is made with malbec
After Italy, France and Spain, Argentina is the other great country of vermouth. For many years, the Italian brands Cinzano and Martini dominated the market. The local vermouth disappeared. Recently, however, the trend towards handicrafts became more pronounced and Pichincha is the fourth vermouth craft to appear in Argentina.
Matías Jurisich runs Pichincha along with other peple. He is a bartender of Rosario and host of the Club del Vermut. For its craft, they use red Malbec wine and it is being done this way for the first time. And flavored with just eight botanical products, including juniper berries, cinnamon and grapefruit zest.
Pichincha vermouth is in the market for three years now, produced in collaboration with Nicolás Cestari. Actually he is already behind a Fernet which is another Argentine passion, that bears his name. Pichincha produces batches of 600 bottles each quarter.
