Culinary books cultivate us in various ways, and it doesn’t hurt to learn new cocktails behind the bar. We recommend two cocktail books for your book shelf.

Expert or not, these books will complete your library in the kitchen or in the bar. Answering that question, “which cocktail should I make now?“, will be answered by both books that propose different approaches to cocktail preparation. One, to break with the ordinary, and another for the more prudent but with a touch to get out of that comfort zone a little.

“Gather Around Cocktails” by Aaron Goldfarb

Aaron Goldfarb’s book includes recipes for all kinds of occasions, festive or otherwise. Sophisticated cocktails to celebrate small victories and special occasions. So, Goldfarb proposes this guide to appreciate life and have a reason to celebrate every day.

In “Gather Around Cocktails” you will find cocktails for any season: winter, spring, summer, autumn. Days of great celebration: Day of the Dead, Labor Day. And also recipes for days of the year that go a bit unnoticed. The recipes also include syrup preparations. It is important to note that it contains many sophisticated recipes that require patience, work and good humour. In addition to an open state of mind to inquire about certain recipes: an avocado-based eggless vegan punch!

“Cocktails with a Twist” by Kara Newman

This is not the first time we introduce Kara Newman and we already know her book Nightcap: More than 40 Cocktails to Close Out Any Evening. In “Cocktails with a Twist”, Kara shows us versions of classic cocktail recipes and addresses them in an easy and simple way. The book contains 21 classic cocktails such as the Negroni, Manhattan, Daiquiri or the Moscow Mule with alternative recipes. It is perfect for those who are looking for something different without much extravagance, easy to taste something similar to what you already like but expanding your horizon.

In short, it’s perfect for those who don’t like to go outside their comfort zone but would like to try something new for a change. For example, a Bloody Bunny, a version of the Bloody Mary with celery seeds and fresh carrot juice, so let your palate expand thanks to Cocktails with a Twist!
