Not only famous in the United Kingdom, the Gin Tonic finds its place in Spanish cocktail bars, but also in the United States.

The fervor for this simple but sophisticated cocktail over the years has led bartenders around the world to create versions with different ingredients, using quality gins and tonic waters.

You can make these recipes at home as well as enjoy them in their original bars.

5 Gin Tonic twists

 

Gin Sonic

Ingredients

11/2 ounces of gin

21/4 ounces of Club Soda

21/4 ounces of Tonic Water

Garnish: yuzu twist

Preparation

Fill a highball glass with ice and add the gin, club soda and tonic.

Garnish with a twist of yuzu.

 

Coffee and Cigarettes – by Alan Berger, Ultreia Denver

Ingredients

11/2 ounces gin

1 ounce coffee liqueur

5 ounces tonic water

Garnish: coffee beans and cocoa nibs

Preparation:

Add the gin and coffee liqueur to a wine glass with ice.

Add the tonic and stir gently to combine.

Garnish with 4 coffee beans and 1/4 teaspoon cocoa nibs.

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces Bluecoat American Dry Gin

3/4 ounce apple chai syrup*.

Tonic, to top

Garnish: star anise pods

Preparation

Fill a Collins glass with ice and add the gin and apple chai syrup.

Add the tonic and stir gently to combine.

Garnish with a star anise pod.

*Apple chai syrup: Simmer 1 cup apple cider with 2 tablespoons loose chai for 3 minutes and remove from heat. Strain the tea. Mix with 1 cup demerara sugar until dissolved.

 

Pink Gin & Tonic

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces of gin

1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed

5 dashes Angostura bitters

Tonic water, chilled, to complete

Preparation

Add the gin, lime juice and bitters to a tall glass filled with ice.

Add the tonic and stir briefly.

 

Spanish Gin Tonic

Ingredients

2 ounces of London dry gin

4 ounces tonic water, chilled

Garnish: juniper berries, yellow lemon wheel and thyme

Preparation

Pour the gin into a wine glass 3/4 full with ice.

Add the tonic and stir briefly to combine.

Garnish with juniper berries, a lemon wheel and a sprig of thyme.
