Los mejores whiskies premiados por la International Wine & Spirits Competition 2021

La prestigiosa competición International Wine & Spirits Competition premió los mejores whiskies en su edición 2021, os traemos la lista.

La edición 2021 de la International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) premió los mejores whiskies, con un total de 37 medallistas con la mención Gold Outstanding 140 medallistas de oro en la categoría Scotch whisky.

Para seleccionar los mejores whiskies, 250 jueces de todo el mundo participan en la IWSC. Fundada en 1969 por Anton Massel se ha convertido en la competición más grande de este estilo.

Durante la selección se evalúan vinos y espirituosos en 1500 categorías, en una escala de 0 a 100 puntos. Los premios son asignados en una base de Gold Outstanding (98-100 puntos), Gold (95-97 puntos), Silver (90-94 puntos) y Bronze (85-89 puntos).

Los ganadores de los mejores whiskies variaron desde marcas a precios bajos, expresiones de marca al por menor, o whisky de nivel básico hasta botellas más costosas como The Balvenie o Bunnahabhain. En cuanto a la fuerza del whisky, variaron de 40% ABV (alcohol por volumen) hasta cask strength tan fuertes como 61% ABV.

Por ahora algunos de los whiskies ganadores no han sido aún estrenados, o están solo reservados para vender en comercio de viajes. Eventualmente encontrarán su lugar en una más amplia distribución.

 

Los mejores whiskies recompensados

A diferencia de la edición del año pasado, en la que las destilerías de Speyside se llevaron casi todas las medallas de oro, los resultados de este año han sido más equilibrados y se han presentado destilerías de prácticamente todas las regiones productoras de whisky de Escocia.
