The rum from Colombia, Parce, has been selected as the best of the eighth edition of the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition and won double gold medal.
Parce, with its rum variations, of 12 years, 8 years and 3 years has won double gold medals, best rum and best aged white spirit in the important awards ceremony of wines and spirits New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, held last August 22nd and 23rd.
However, for many people, it is curious that the Colombian rum founded by three Americans of Irish origin carries the Colombian flag high. Founded ten years ago, Patrick Powers comments in an interview with Portafolio.co: “My dad always wanted to have a business in Colombia with his sons. I came from the United States to live here and when he passed away I told my brothers to make his business dream come true.”
The rum is produced in the city of Armenia (Quindío), is 100% aged with touches of coffee, tobacco and cocoa, with only natural flavors. Just last year, rum is commercialized in Colombia, and knows mainly a notoriety abroad prior to its commercialization in Colombia thanks to export, in countries such as the United States and Iceland, Asian countries such as South Korea and China, and Latin American countries such as Mexico, Honduras, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Costa Rica.
