The beer with less than 40% of calories from Professeur Houblon

Juliane Woaye-Koi, an engineer from ENSAT in Toulouse, has created a beer for the Professeur Houblon brand with less than 40% calories.

The beer for which the name is not yet known is part of Professeur Houblon, a brand of innovative craft beers. Beer with less than 40% of calories is the main star of its catalogue. It is a natural blonde beer, with no additives or sweeteners and an alcohol content of 5 degrees.

The Professeur Houblon Project

Professeur Houblon was born out of a school project during Juliane’s last year at ENSAT. In an interview with Les Echos, she says: “…Together with a group of students we had to simulate the creation of a company based on an innovative food product. We presented the project to the Ecotrophelia competition in Avignon, and although we did not win, the feedback from the professionals was very good. I decided, why not continue?”

From so many tests, he presented the alternative beer – the blonde with less than 40% of calories – to Rising Start-Ups, at the Salon international de l’innovation alimentarire in Paris. Its economic viability was made possible by Pépite Starter Ecrin.

The beer will be produced by brewers in south-west France and will be pre-sold on the Professeur Houblon website from March and then sold in bars, restaurants and shops in Toulouse.
