Restaurants in New York will be able to open for Valentine’s Day but only receiving 25% of their capacity.

New York restaurants are scheduled to reopen for Valentine’s Day (February 14). Fortunately, in the Big Apple, Covid-19 positive cases have dropped by 5%. The announcement was made by Governor Andrew Como on Friday, January 29.

After the holidays the spike (in infections) is down to 4.9% and all models project that this number will continue to decline,” Cuomo said.

Currently in New York, 597,000 cases of covid-19 and 26,953 deaths have been reported.

What sanitary measures and hours must restaurants comply with?

Restaurants will be allowed to open under the following measures:

-Open their dining room with a 25% capacity.

-Closing time will be at 10:00 pm.

Restaurant owners and advocates demand that the schedule be extended until midnight.

The measures are already known by clients and caterers, since in September 2020 the same measure was announced after weeks of pressure from restaurant owners. Until then, they were only allowed to serve meals on terraces and patios. Among the obligations, take the temperature of customers, collect data from at least one diner, and no serving at the bar.

Restaurants and bars that have stayed afloat have resorted to take-out and delivery, as well as outdoor dining, an increasingly untenable option as the cold winter progresses.

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
