MSC Cruises detailed last Thursday the launch of the MSC Starship Club, complete with a robot bartender and immersive experience.

The first humanoid robot bartender at sea will be waiting for you behind the bar of the MSC Starship Club. Rob, will be available to prepare your cocktails starting April 16 this year, when the MSC Virtuosa cruise ship enters service.

This concept stems from MSC Cruises’ vision to realize spaceships of the future (MSC Starliner One). On board we find cutting-edge technologies to create a futuristic atmosphere. This includes 3D holograms, an immersive digital art wall and an interactive table with 12 seats. It gives passengers the chance to explore space with a personalized galactic tour.

Rob, the robot bartender, will prepare signature cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. He can also prepare personalized drinks according to the tastes of consumers. At the same time, he interacts with passengers with human voice and expression, completing the bar experience. In addition, Rob speaks eight languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese.

To order cocktails, passengers will use vertical digital screens designed in the area to place their order. Accompanied by LED lights on his face, Rob can also convey emotions.

Passengers will be able to follow the cocktail preparation through digital monitors. And at the top of the robotic island parades a tape-style LED strip.

The new flagship MSC Virtuosa will enter service in April this year. On its voyage circuit, three-, four- and five-night cruises in the Mediterranean and voyage to northern Europe for summer 2021. Itineraries include the Norwegian Fjords and the Baltic Capitals.
