As in many countries around the world, non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails are also seducing consumers in France.

According to a recent survey, 60% of French consumers say they are tempted to try non-alcoholic drinks. More and more are seduced by non-alcoholic distillates and cocktails. “Pregnant women, Muslims, athletes, diabetics; people who can no longer drink alcohol by choice or out of necessity.” Said David Colliot of the Ponthieu winery in Paris about the kind of consumer attracted to alcohol-free.

It should be noted that non-alcoholic cocktails, for example made with a gin, do not differ much in taste. In fact, non-alcoholic gins undergo a maceration and distillation process with the same herbs as an alcoholic gin. It is these ingredients that form a large part of the taste of a gin. “It is easy to imagine that by using only a maceration or de-alcoholization process of the product, the taste is necessarily much easier to recreate in this type of drink.” says the marketing manager of the Paris liquor store Drinks&Co.

In 2020, a year marked by the health crisis, 5.5 million French people are nevertheless expecting an increase in their alcohol consumption during confinement.
