The Macallan bottle sold for $437,500 for diversity, equity, access and inclusion at the Guggenheim Museum.

“A New Era of Advertising” was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York on Saturday, March 13. It is one of 13 original and unique bottles from Macallan’s Anecdotes of Ages collection.

During the launch of the new Macallan “Anecdotes of Ages” bottles, the Scotch whisky brand set aside a bottle for auction. This collection features artwork by British pop artist Sir Peter Blake on the bottles. The Macallan and Sir Peter Blake have been collaborating for over four decades. This collection celebrates the legacy and history of Sir Peter Blake and The Macallan.

The auction of the bottle didn’t limit itself to Macallan’s precious liquid or its label design. A print donated by Blake and a VIP experience at the Macallan Estate came along with the sale.

Beyond these important assets received by the buyer, the proceeds benefit Guggenheim Museum initiatives. These initiatives promote diversity, equity, access and inclusion. The money goes to outreach and accessibility in the New York area. It will also go toward a new recurring free admission initiative called Saturday on the House.
