The sale of spirits in Quebec increased by 7.44% in the 2017-2018 period, compared to the previous period.

Quebecois visibly prefer spirits to wine, beer and cider. While wine recorded and increase in sales of 2.06%, sales of beer, cider and other soft drinks stagnated.

The report on consumer habits was presented by the Association Restauration Québec (ARQ), according to figures issued by the Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ).

It is speculated that the increase in sales of spirits is due to growing consumer interest in national premium spirits, especially new ones, and mixology. According to the ARQ press release.

Interest in the selection of national beverages was also marked in the menus of restaurants, noting that restaurants in the region have added brands of Canadian wine and spirits.

In general, Quebecers spend an average of $780 a year on alcohol.
