According to forum.fr the cognac harvest will take place around September 13th, when usually it takes place between the 20th and 25th of the same month.
The winegrowers of the AOC Cognac met to determine the preparation of the harvest, very early this year. A week to a week and a half in advance, the main reason being the climate this year as indicated by Anthony Brun, president of the General Union of the Cognac AOC growers.
During the meeting of the winegrowers, some advice was given to better harvest the ugni blanc grape variety, exclusive for the making of cognac.
Fortunately, the quality of the harvest will not be altered, according to specialists from the BNIC’s (Bureau Interprofessionnel du Cognac) wine-growing station. The annual yield is expected to correspond to 12.80 hectolitres of pure alcohol per hectare, which is a little more than the quota expected at the beginning of July.
