Discover the imposing and controversial work by artist Damien Hirst at the heart of Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas’s bar.

Damien Hirst is well known for his creations of conceptual art and installations, especially for his series featuring dead animals. In this series, from which he gained a boost to fame, The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living was highlighted by a shark tiger immersed in formaldehyde in a 4.3 metre glass and steel pond.

The Unknown Bar, recently opened after a $620 million renovation of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, showcases this Hirst installation behind its bar, the shark starring the bar in front of its future tasters and where its future bartenders will have it on their backs during their cocktail preparation. Without a doubt a unique experience.

Its owners, Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta are great fans of the artist. In fact, Hirst told Conde Nast Traveler, who have been great supporters and have collected his work for over 15 years. After the purchase of the Palms Casino, they asked him if they could exhibit the work in the bar. Pleased, he agreed.
