The competition to select Peru’s three semifinal bartenders took place on November 21.

The semifinal took place at the Ammo restaurant on the Costa Verde for the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition 2020. Ángel Bernal from Azotea Doce, Diego Gutiérrez from Osaka and Luis Capcha from Osso made it to the final. The competition disputed between twelve bartenders, highlighted their creations and presentations.

The jury was formed by Jimena Agois, an outstanding photographer and gastronomic journalist; Nicolás Gallego, ambassador of Bacardi in Chile; Nando Córdova bartender, consultant and expert in the sector.

The winning cocktails were:

-Media Naranja, by Diego Gutiérrez: a cocktail based on love, with a new story to tell.

-Raíces, by Ángel Bernal: highlights the importance of preserving roots, in spite of constant changes.

-Review, by Luis Capcha: It’s about the process of learning during life.


The local final will be in February, and the winner will represent Peru in the global final to be held in Miami in May of 2020.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that Peru, another gastronomic capital of the world, enjoys since the last decade a boom where, in fact, local flavors stand out and Peruvian cuisine finds its place in the heart of society. Besides, expert and creative mixologists reinvent the creation of cocktails. This is the second time that Peru has participated in the Bacardi Legacy contest.
