This time our “historic cocktails” series features Old Mull whisky from John Hopinks & Co.

The recipes of our column are compiled directly from the book “puis le gas y dit“, by the Distillers Corporation Seagrams Limited of Montreal.

The recipes included in this book were found and tasted in law firms of connoisseurs. Hotel club experts and world-renowned hotels of the time. Divided into five parts according to the spirit base from gin, Scotch whisky, Canadian and American rye to bourbon.

Old Mull Whisky

Old Mull Fine Mellow Whisky, is a blend of Old Tobermory and other fine Scotch Whiskies. The Tobermory editions of Old Mull, are among the oldest of the distillery, dating from 1912 to 1917.

This whisky is very well appreciated in “Puis le gas y dit…“.

“To the sights? Yes! I went to the views there. That, for me, is the finest… it’s not like back home in the village where we have this twice a week… There are several there and it works every day…

They are so beautiful… like big golden palaces… and then worth it… there was a river where beautiful girls would arrive at the lake and get ready to swim… and just at that moment, a train would pass by… Darn! When all the trains passed by, the creatures were in the water…

I went back two or three times to see what I saw there… hoping that one day the train would be late, but the toad was always on time…

What’s that? You’re laughing at me… it’s the same as my friend over there… when I told him that, he laughed like crazy… but still, it was worth it, so… my friend said: “Let’s see an Old Mull.”
