Scapegrace is an handcrafted gin with an unusual distillation process. Indeed, the latter, which is produced in an old copper still “John Dore” dating from the 19th century, is diluted with water 80 years old. You must be wondering how it is possible to find water that old? The answer is simple, over the past 80 years, the rainwater that fell in New Zealand eventually crossed the sediment layers until it was finally discharged into some kind of Phreatic zone. This water is then recovered by the distillery which uses it to produce such an exceptional gin.

The New Zealand distiller duo Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlin behind this idea recently won the major international wine and spirits competition in London with this somewhat special gin. A high distinction that will allow this company to develop further in order to integrate bars and restaurants in the United States.

Scapegrace gin has the particularity of developing its flavours when served with one or two slices of kiwi. The fruit used as a garnish enhances the taste of plants while allowing them to soften. A rather original way to taste handcrafted gin.
