Coronavirus: Vodka won’t fight the disease

Vodka has been promoted as an ingredient to create hand sanitizer during the coronavirus epidemic. How far will we go to advertise?

However, the vodka brand Tito’s responded to the wave of people proposing vodka to create antibacterial. The brand announced through its Twitter account that vodka does not work for this purpose. “According to the CDC*, hand sanitizer must contain at least 60% alcohol. Tito’s artisanal vodka is 40% alcohol, and therefore does not meet the current CDC recommendation,” said the distiller. – AFP.

The reactions began after a vodka consumer posted his homemade invention on his social network Twitter. “I made sanitizing gel from your vodka. The gel doesn’t taste bad, by the way. It protects me from germs and I feel good,” the owner of the Snottypotty Twitter account said Thursday in a message to the official account of the Tito’s vodka brand in Texas.

Other users supported the idea of Snottypotty by posting that they also protect themselves from the virus with vodka bottles to wash their hands.

Social networks have been inundated with wild and sometimes dangerous homemade recipes since the World Health Organization (WHO) published a guide to local production for health professionals on its website.

In just a few weeks, masks, disinfectant gels, gloves or protective suits have become rare products in several countries around the world affected by the Covid-19 virus.
