It’s right that people used to employ them for the preparation of various cocktails, without noticing an enormous difference at the taste level. But the fact remains that, there are real differences between gin and vodka. Let’s not get hung up only on the fact that they are both clear liquors. Let us also direct attention to their history. In spite of its popularity in Europe and in the United States in particular, the vodka is of Russian origin. Some historical references place its origin in the 1400s. Vodka is mostly made of water and ethanol with various cereal as wheat, corn or rye.

In the case if gin, it dates the 17th century and was influenced by Holland and England. To be prepared, the main element used is juniper. This component enables to make a notable difference concerning the taste between gin and vodka, with a more herbaceous flavour for the gin. Tanqueray, London Dry or Beefeater are known as some of the most popular brands of Gin, while having for vodka, Ciroc, Absolut or Smirnoff.
