Gin in Belgium enjoys success since confinement

Gin has become an attractive drink for the European country since the start of the health crisis.

Several Belgian gin brands have reported an increase in sales since the start of the confinement. Apparently, the inhabitants of this country have shown an appetite for cocktails such as Gin Tonic and therefore, for its base alcohol. All this at the time of our online aperitifs or afterwork. In Belgium, bars have been closed since October 19.

More specifically, Belgian consumers have decided to opt for local gins, and as a consequence, brands from different parts of the country have been present on the market. Bruges, Binche, Liège, Namur, Arlon, Ciney? These are some of the cities that have a gin in Belgium.

As proof, while the popularity of gin seemed to be in decline before the health crisis began, the supermarket chain Delhaize saw sales increase by 30% since March 2020. In fact, the chain reported that overall, they sold 10% more alcohol compared to the same period in 2019.

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
