Muti Gin from South Africa wins top design award at Chicago awards
The South African gin has just won an award for best design at the Chicago Dieline Design Awards. Muti is barely one year old and defeated 1500 participants from 20 countries. The award recognizes outstanding packaging design and product design.
Muti Gin was launched just a year ago by a South African couple from Stellenbosch, Jan and Kobá Solms. The label on the package represents South African surf sites such as Eland Bays and Jeffreys Bays, and the mountains.
The package impressed the Chicago judges. The “M” symbolizes the summits of the Stellenbosch mountain, which is located near the headquarters of the Muti gin. Waves can also be seen from right to left in the bottle, something South African surfers will be proud of.
Jan Soloms on the design comments “You will also notice the dots, in symmetrical groups, and the strong line of sunbeams, which means beach sand and a sunset, which we believe is the most appropriate time and environment to taste a gin.
Muti Gin is a citrus gin that includes a blend of East and West Cape fynbos. Ghô-khum and kusmalva plants are also found in Muti. Ghô-Khum is Muti Gin‘s flagship plant, while the kusmalva adds a touch of Eastern Cape taste.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
