Outlander’s Sam Heughan launches Sassenach whisky
Sam Heughan enjoys as a good Scotchman a good whisky, his love for the drink led him to launch his brand: Sassenach.
Sassenach is the first whisky released by Sam Heughan (whom you may know as the actor who plays Jamie Fraser in the hit sci-fi TV series Outlander), inspired by the picturesque landscapes of the Highlands. This flavorful blended Scotch whisky offers an array of caramel, fresh citrus and warm spice notes.
The whisky is a tribute to Scotland.
“The idea behind my whisky, Sassenach, is that it’s called “Spirit of Home.” Wherever you are in the world, it should transport you to Scotland. Whisky is a very interesting drink because there’s a lot of emotion involved. It gives you an emotional reaction when you drink it. I don’t think it’s the same with a lot of other spirits. Whisky is a living product: it depends on where it’s aged and what wood it’s been put in, and the ‘terroir’ around it can really affect the taste and aroma. I think that’s very interesting,” the actor explained to scottishfield in an interview.
