Highest bid ever for two bottles of Macallan scotch

What if we told you that you were the owner of a Macallan scotch bottle ? Did you know that you would have probably hit the jackpot ? Indeed, two 750 milliliter bottles of the Macallan scotch whisky from 1926 were sold for over $1.1 million american. Both bottles sold at the Bonhams Auction House from Hong Kong. The Valerio Adami edition for $1.100.180 and the Peter Blake edition for $1.000.000.

These two editions of the Macallan 1926 bottles, were originally given as a gift to British Pop artist Peter Blake (well known for his stunning work of art on The Beatles album cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band) and to Valerio Adami, the italian painter from the Brera Academy in Milan. Each one received 12 bottles, since the Macallan produced 24 limited edition bottles.

However, this high bid is not exclusive to the auction itself. The first time this bottle was sold at an expensive price was during a Christie’s auction session in 2007. The bid was of $75.000. Years later, one month ago, another Macallan bottle was sold for $1.2 million in Dubai’s Airport.
