Diplomático unveils a new Single Vintage 2007 for its Prestige range

Venezuelan rum brand Diplomático has added a 2007 Single Vintage bottle to its Prestige line. The rum will be released at the end of October.

The Prestige line also includes Diplomático’s Ambassador selection and Single Vintages from 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005.

“With a dark, bright amber color, the 2007 Single Vintage opens with harmonious notes of ripe red fruits accompanied by aromas of vanilla, spice, and chocolate that provide a delicate and subtle aromatic balance,” said master blender Nelson Hernandez.

The rum joins the Vintage Collection, which includes bottlings that master blenders initially set aside because they were matured in a “unique or extraordinary way.”

These barrels are then assembled into vintage lots. After aging for 12 years in ex-Bourbon and single malt whiskey barrels, the rums are finished for an additional year in oloroso sherry barrels. Hernandez adds, “Sweet notes of ripe fruit, wood, chocolate, and coffee are seen on the palate, adding a composed roundness and sweetness that leads to a long, velvety finish.”

Diplomático Rum Vintage 2007 is available from trade and specialist retailers in the UK, distributed by Specialty Brands, at a recommended retail price of £105 (US$117) from late October.
