Explore the world of Vermouth with Martini and Rossi
Vermouth is a fortified wine flavoured with plants including herbs, roots, bark, seeds, spices and flowers. It is traditionally drunk as an aperitif alone or in classic and contemporary cocktails.
In the past it was served as a medicinal elixir, it was attributed at the time to healing properties. It is only since the 19th century that it has been found in mass marketing.
One of the pioneering companies in the international takeover of vermouth was Martini & Rossi, based in Turin and founded by Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi. It is a company that continues to be a household name in vermouth. Martini & Rossi was launched in 1864 with its vermouth Rosso. Today, the company manufactures a wide range of vermouths: Extra Dry, Bianco, Rosso and their new Riserva Speciale Ambrato and Rubino (which are nothing short of exquisite).
Each bottle of vermouth contains a blend of Italian wines specific to each style of vermouth, which is then enriched with neutral grain alcohol and flavoured with a secret blend of plants that may include orange peel, lemon, lemon zest, rose, cinchona peel, yellow gentian root, sacred thistle, dandelion leaves, rhubarb root… and the list is long !
