Rhum Fest France 2020 from 25 to 27 April
Every rum lover will find his place at the seventh edition of the largest European fair dedicated to rum: the Rhum Fest.
From April 25th to 27th, Paris is preparing to host the seventh edition of Rhum Fest at the Parc Floral de Vincennes. This year, visitors and professionals will discover the art of distillation as a main theme.
Last year the event was attended by 8000 people and 190 brands, a figure which is expected to increase this year. In fact, compared to the last 4 years, the Rhum Fest has only increased. The event went from 4500 visitors in 2015 to 8000 in 2019.
This year’s theme, focused on the art of distillation, is part of a three-year series that begins in 2019 with “The Odyssey of the Sugarcane”.
Rhum Fest 2020 Highlights
This year the festival returns to the Parc Floral, a larger and more airy space of 1500 m2 outside. A food fair will be held here, and a cocktail village, where new partners will be able to express their liquid and solid rum creativity.
In addition, the festival will have a space dedicated to the rum arrangé, or arranged. This category has grown tremendously in recent years, thanks to both classic brands such as Isautier and new brands such as Les rhums de Ced.
And of course, the conferences and animations. Distillation, being a crucial stage in the creation of rum, finds its place as a main theme in this 2020 Rhum Fest edition. The festival has established a partnership with the Alambic association, the union of independent distillers, which will carry out distillation demonstrations on site.
Rum in France
In five years the volume of rum sales on the mainland has seen a great evolution. These went from 25 million liters to 32.7 million liters (not counting cavers). At this rate, rum is expected to catch up with whisky by 2039, which currently leads sales.
The white rum category is the main one with 18 million liters in 2019; it is followed by spiced rum with 4.2 million liters; arranged rum with 1.2 million liters and finally aged rum with 1.3 million liters.
