Farewell to Tomas Estes: Tequila Icon Passes Away
A respected player in the beverage industry, notably tequila, Tomas Estes passed away on Sunday, April 25 in Southern Oregon.
We at Spirits Hunters offer our condolences to the family and loved ones of Tomas Estes.
Tomas Estes known for building a reputation around agave, was founder and co-owner of Ocho Tequila. He opened Mexican bars and restaurants around Europe and helped transform tequila’s image into a high-end spirit.
Estes’ career was celebrated last year when he was named a Lifetime Achievement Award winner at the CLASS Bar Awards 2020.
A statement from the family on their Facebook page read, “It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Tomas Estes. He died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 25, surrounded by his family in Southern Oregon.”
“Those who knew Tomas will know that he lived a full and rich life. There will always be a ‘Tomas-sized hole’ in the universe.
“His capacity for love and kindness was boundless and deeper than any words could express. The world will be a less bright place because of this loss.”
