Wine flavored gin… what is it ?
In the UK, Aldi came up with a drink called Sorgin : a combination of Sauvignon Blanc gand gin. In addition to white grapes, it also contains juniper berries (traditionally used to make gin) as well as botanical ingredients such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, violet, broom as well as blackcurrant buds.
This mixed gin has an ABV of 43%, which is higher than a regular gin. The name Sorgin was not chosen at random: in the Basque language, it means “sorcerers who are able to keep their good mood and energy through the night », which sounds very promising.
The UK has already experienced such a mix earlier this year : the retail company Marks and Spencer launched a drink called Ginking, a sparkling wine cocktail with 43% alc.
A 70 cl bottle of Sorgin will cost £24.99.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
