North Korea to launch its whisky brand this 2019

At the end of 2019, North Korea will launch its own brand of whisky, the first whisky ever distilled in the country.

The first brand of North Korean whisky comes in two presentations whose bottles resemble Johnnie Walker Black Label and Red Label, apparently Scotch whisky is very famous in the country.

The news is shared by Young Pioneer Tours, a Chinese tourism company, who gained access to the first batch of whisky called Samilpo. Its name comes from the lake of the same name near Mount Kumgang, one of the most touristic places in the country.

Whiskey comes in two presentations, a Black Label and a Red Label. Another version with a higher alcohol content will be part of the Samilpo range but does not yet have a release date.

However, it is not known what type of grain the whisky possesses, its age, and other important factors to qualify a whisky, especially for spirit connoisseurs. Although, The Telegraph states that a taster defined it as “Very interesting beginning. -but- It definitely needs to be aged a little longer.

Samilpo, on the other hand, offers health advantages. This whisky has 15 amino acids of which eight essential amino acids that would aid in the prevention of liver damage and reduce the negative effects of alcohol abuse.

A whisky that arouses everyone’s curiosity and creates sure controversy.
