Tom Holland secretly worked as a bartender : “It was fun. I had a good time.”
Hollywood star Tom Holland has revealed that he secretly worked as a bartender in a London bar to prepare for his role in a new blockbuster.
In other words, if you frequent the capital’s many bars, you may have been served by none other than Tom Holland as a bartender without even realizing it.
Holland revealed to Sirius XM’s Pop Culture Spotlight program that he actually did some secret bartending shifts in London; in fact, the stunt was so secret that not even the bar’s general manager knew about it….
For context, it’s worth mentioning that Holland’s character in the new Uncharted movie is a bartender .
“One of the things I love most about what we do for a living is when you have the opportunity to learn a new skill for some reason, other than you just want to try it,” Tom Holland told Sirius XM.
“So I went to bartending school. I ended up doing some shifts at a bar in London, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. And it’s a nice little set piece in the film.”
Anyway, it turns out that the bar’s general manager was unaware that the Hollywood movie star was mixing drinks at his place, and word got out that he could be found working at the bar in question.
“When word got around town and people started to realize that ‘apparently Tom Holland is a bartender at this bar,’ then the general manager started to notice. And eventually they kicked me out,” he revealed. “I’ve gone back to the bar, but it’s a bit of a difficult relationship at the moment. However, I’ve given them a lot of press. So they’ve shut up and let me come back.”
To do so, he literally traded places with a bartender who was supposed to be on duty. “He had to have a white tuxedo and everything. I’d go there and take the bartender’s clothes and I’d be there undercover,” Tom said.
And the venue? Well, we can’t be 100% sure, but it turns out Holland did an interview with GQ last year, during which he suggested he had worked shifts at London’s swanky Chiltern Firehouse bar.
