A beer for dogs, at Raleigh’s newest brewery

Now our furry friends, they have a beer for dogs at Raleigh’s newest outdoor brewery opened this March.

Tap Yard Raleigh is located on a one-acre space at 1610 Automotive Way. It’s now open, and its grand opening was March 25.

Whether you have furry babies or humans, you’ll be welcome at Raleigh’s new outdoor beer garden. The expansive space includes free yard games, a rotating schedule of food trucks and arcade games.

Tap Yard Raleigh is open to all ages during the day and welcomes “well-behaved” dogs.

Dogs even have their own beer on the menu, which Medford says they tested with their own dogs.

Medford says they developed Mason’s Good Dog Beer non-alcoholic dog beer with dog nutrition in mind. The beer features low-sodium chicken broth, no-sugar-added applesauce and peanut butter.

“We always take our dog with us and you have to be able to order something for your dog,” Medford said.

Samples of this dog-friendly beer were offered during the grand opening on March 25.

There is 5,000 square feet of indoor space with two full bars featuring 16 craft beers on tap, plus wine, spirits and cocktails. There is also an extensive non-alcoholic beverage menu with a variety of non-alcoholic beers, spirits and cocktails.

Families can enjoy arcade and pinball games and a rubber ducky pinball machine in the Tap Yard Hall area, which also hosts live music.

This is the latest venture for Zack Medford, who was part of the group that opened Isaac Hunter’s Tavern, Coglin’s, Parliament and Paddy O’Beers in Raleigh.

“I wanted a place where I could take my family, have a beer and enjoy the outdoors,” Medford explains.

He discovered the space in 2020 while looking for a place to park another of his popular businesses, The Great Raleigh Trolley. When he saw the lot, Medford said he knew it would be perfect for this type of concept.
