How to combine cocktails and good music? The book Booze & Vinyl has the answer

Are you passionate about music and cocktails? It could be a lot of fun to combine both. Booze & Vinyl by André and Tenaya Darlington tells you how to do it.

Booze & Vinyl: A Spirited Guide to Great Music and Mixed Drinks is the book you need to make your cocktail night the best. Sometimes a song will evoke a cocktail, or vice versa. Maybe you see an Old Fashioned with jazz music, or you see a Cuba Libre with original salsa. The brothers André and Tenaya Darlington know this very well.

In the book we find 70 albums combined with cocktails. These combinations will transport you into a unique universe where music from rock to chill and dance will be complemented by the character of the cocktail you prepare.

Each cocktail with has a SIDE A and a SIDE B (as vinyls). Each entry has notes that stands out the highlights of the album and accompany the “SIDE A” and “SIDE B” cocktail recipes that complement the mood of the music, the lyrics images or connect the drink to the artist. This is your guide to a rich listening session for one, two or more people.

The music contained in the book is pretty varied. You can shake and mix your cocktails to the sound of these renowned artists and music gems to discover if you have not already heard some of them.

Among the 70 outstanding albums we find:

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, Purple Rain, Sticky Fingers, Born to Run, License to Ill, Appetite for Destruction, Thriller, Like a Virgin, Low End Theory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Hotel California, Buena Vista Social Club, Back to Black, Pet Sounds, Vampire Weekend, and many more.

As a music fan and someone who appreciates the art of tasting and cocktails, I couldn’t have found a more fascinating book. In fact, in my mind I have already transposed the sound of a music or the taste of a cocktail into one of these two elements through our Spirits Hunters playlist. So here it is, a reading recommendation for those moments at home that we are increasingly learning to appreciate in awkward and challenging times.
