5 cocktail recipes to discover Georgia O’Keeffe’s art

Creativity has a big part in making cocktails. In 2018, the North Carolina Museum of Art organized a special exhibition under the theme: The Beyond: Georgia O’Keeffe and Contemporary Art.

In addition to presenting the works of the American artist, the exhibition pursues another objective that of inviting restaurants to prepare cocktails based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings.

 

Below, 5 cocktail recipes and their corresponding paintings:

 

Sedano Fiore Cocktail, inspired by the painting Jimson Weed / White Flower No. 1

 

Recipe:

 

2 oz of Uncle Vals Botanical Gin

½ oz of celery juice and pepper

A Chartreuse capful

Capful of Luxardo

1 oz of lemon juice

An edible flower for garnish

 

 

The Sand Hills cocktail inspired by Small Purple Hills

 

Recipe:

 

1 oz of Ardbeg 10 Scotch

1 oz of Auchentoshen Scotch

1 oz of Antica Vermouth

¼ Oz of luxardo

½ oz of cherry syrup

½ oz of blood orange puree

As a garnish, an orange peel and a cherry

 

 

The Beyond cocktail inspired by Petunias

 

Recipe:

1½ oz of gin

1 oz of lemon juice

½ oz of homemade lavender syrup

Ginger Ale

Garnish: slice of lemon

 

 

Datura Cocktail inspired by Jimson Weed / White Flower No. 1

 

Recipe:

 

1½ oz of Skyy Peach vodka

½ oz of mezcal Vida

1 oz of aloe juice

¾ oz St. Germain

½ oz of lemon juice

3 strokes of Crude bitters of grapefruit or pepper

Egg white

 

 

Yellow Valley Cocktail inspired by Yellow Mountains

 

Recipe:

1½ oz of Reposado tequila

1 oz of Sherry Amontillado

½ oz of St. Elder Liqueur

1 teaspoon of agave nectar

Grapefruit zest
