Bartender ALEX KRATENA and his breathtaking career
As a teenager, Alex Kratena worked in nightclubs in Tokyo for a few years before moving to the United States to learn English. Once he mastered the international language, he moved to London in 2006, where he found a job as a beer server in a pub. From there, he worked at Orrery, one of the best French restaurants and participated in cocktail competitions, propelling him to the forefront of the London scene.
“When the Palace Langham opened in 2007, I went to the interview in my bartender’s outfit after a competition with my equipment box. I think they liked me because they thought I was a little crazy to have neither sacrifice competition nor maintenance.”
Kratena has mostly surrounded himself. He will spend the next eight years at Artesian as a bartender alongside Simone Caporale, who has won four consecutive titles as the world’s best bartender. But also his girlfriend, Monica Berg “With Simone, we are an excellent team and we felt good.”
Full of ideas, the dynamic trio Kratena, Corporal and Berg founded a non-profit bartender platform as well as various consulting projects.
