Hong Kong. Armagnac leading at the Vinexpo
The spirits of Gascogne and Armagnac were on display at the 20th Vinexpo exhibition, held in Hong Kong from May 29th-31st at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Vinexpo is the event reserved for professionals in the wine and spirits industry.
Armagnacnews.com reported that the Club des Marques team, led by Stéphane Volpato, represented Florence Castarède’s eaux-de-vie. Moreover, the Pernod Ricard group and its Marquis de Montesquiou highly visible internationally. Last, the Rounagle brand with its armagnacs.
The Armagnac is booming in China
Back in 2010 the market for armagnac in France was at 43% in sales. However, the change in trend had a lot to do with China. According to the Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac, between 2010 and 2011 imports of armagnac into Hong Kong almost doubled, with China surpassing Britain as the largest export market for armagnac.
According to The Spirits Business, In China, Armagnac ranks second. The spirit has a progressive rate growth of sales by volume predicted to +23.1% by 2018.
