We asked ChatGPT to make cocktails with what we had in the cupboard and this is what it came up with!

We all know, bartenders will never be replaced by a robot! But we were curious to try this experiment! How did we do it? We gave ChatGPT the ingredients, then we asked Midjourney to do the visuals!

In a fascinating exploration of human-machine collaboration, we embarked on an experimental journey to make cocktails with ChatGPT, the advanced language model, to concoct a series of imaginative cocktail recipes.

Armed with a selection of ingredients from our home, we challenged ChatGPT to craft eight unique and tantalizing, and awkward cocktail recipes that could be fashioned from the available resources. The collaboration didn’t end there; with the aid of Midjourney, a cutting-edge data visualization tool, we brought these virtual mixology creations to life in captivating visual representations. These visuals are intriguing, too, because they’re very polished and hyper-realistic, a bit like paintings, but there are also absurdities like bacon floating on a cocktail – weightlessness couldn’t do that.

As you know, when it comes to ChatGPT, it’s all about how you give the information, and in what order. ChatGPT and other AI models are built and trained using data sets, so they are only as good as the data they are trained on, and they can exhibit bias and errors depending on the quality of data and the way it is trained and same for Midjourney.

Bartenders and mixologists possess unique skills and knowledge that cannot be replaced by robots. Their expertise comes from real-world experiences, traveling, and interacting with customers. They have a deep understanding of various alcohols and exotic ingredients, along with their flavor profiles and how they complement different spirits. Additionally, they are well-versed in various mixing techniques, knowing when to use each for specific outcomes.

Mixologists are culinary-minded and excellent communicators. They curate drink menus based on ingredient seasonality and the establishment’s style. Before service, they prepare individual drink components like infusions, juices, and syrups. These professionals dedicate hours to creating and refining innovative cocktails, aiming to craft memorable experiences.
