France. New record for French cognac: more than 205 million bottles exported in one year
It is now obvious that cognac made in France is enjoying great success! This famous spirit saw its sales increase again to exceed 205 million bottles sold in one year. An amazing record, especially considering that 98% of the production has been sold outside France.
This alcohol is highly appreciated by Americans and Asians who are the majority buyers. The United States consumed no less than 86.5 million bottles of cognac bought in France during the year. Asia, which is the second country to import the most cognac, has more than 26 million bottles bought over the year.
This record demonstrates once again how cognac is more of an export market. These figures prove the great paradox that this product, a marker of French identity, possesses and yet is much more consumed by foreigners.
