Pink champagne is still strong on the market, representing 11.5% of exports worldwide
Pink champagne is still present on the market, representing a total of 11.5% of the world’s exports.
However, it is important to note that they decreased in volume by 3.9% after seven years of consecutive growth, under the influence of major European Union markets such as the United Kingdom. On the other hand, the figures are favourable since for sales in 2017 the progress was 0.5%.
No doubt about this boom, in fact in 1818 Madame Cliquot created the first pink champagne. Veuve Cliquot is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the creation of this champagne. A big party in the heart of the Paris Acclimatization Garden was held for the celebration.
Bottles of pink champagne first appeared in France in the mid-19th century. Pink champagne underwent a series of transformations until it was refined, at the beginning, it used to obtain a more violet than pink colour. From the 20th century onwards, rosé champagne was no longer considered to be a defective wine, but just another variety of the prestigious wines of French champagne.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
