Tasting is an art, moderation is key: singer Lily Allen confesses
British singer Lily Allen confessed on The Recovery Podcast about her difficulties with alcohol.
For Lily Allen, the artistic environment became overwhelming. The singer lost control over her consumption of alcoholic beverages and drugs. In the interview with The Recovery, she confessed to have started taking pills to lose appetite and lose weight after the birth of her daughter Marnie. But it wasn’t until 2014 when she was on tour with Miley Cyrus that she felt bad about herself. Quickly the singer took refuge in alcohol, a way for her to feel invincible. “I would wake up in the morning and drink straight bottles of vodka from the minibar, or whiskey,” she admitted. She realized she needed to turn the page when her day had boiled down to drinking.
Ready for a fresh start, she stopped drinking and decided to detox, “face my demons”.
A tough period for the singer that lasted four years. Today the 35-year-old singer has been sober for two years since July 2019.
Drinking to excess is detrimental to health. Tasting should be a pleasure and an instant that elevates our senses by concentrating on the drink or cocktail we drink. We can realize it in time before it is too late, and especially not ignore signs of worldly alcoholism. Do not hesitate to consult your trusted physician or family members if you feel you have a tendency to drink a little too much.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
