The most striking design of restaurants and bars in 2018

The winners of the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards are judged by a panel of 45 influential personalities in design, hospitality and lifestyle, including Singaporean chef Andre Chiang, CEO of Dorchester Collection and editor-in-chief of Elle Decoration UK.

This year, Dubai Opera’s Sean Connolly seafood and steakhouse brewery won the title of best global restaurant. First out of 900 applications. Designed by Alexander & Co, the 350-seat restaurant extends over 2,000 square metres of the upper floor of the Dubai Opera House and has a roof terrace with a breathtaking view of the famous and imposing Burj Khalifa Tower. A column of ropes braided with marble, pearly tops and tiled ceilings: the design clearly recalls marine inspiration.

Rosina from the Venetian hotel complex in Las Vegas was named best bar for her Art Deco design (photo above) Details such as fringed suspended lights, geometric prints, high tables and velvet chairs take guests back to the Roaring Twenties and Jay Gatsby’s world. The same goes for the brown velvet upholstered benches and the rich palette of black, pearl, gold and burgundy colours.
The little something extra? A champagne call button that will send a bottle of champagne to your table in a few moments. A class act !
