The success of gin in numbers

The gin market grew +5% in volume and +12% in value over the course of a year. Accordint to Nielsen, the company known for collecting data and statistics.

To date, 4.5 million liters of gin have been sold since September 2018. It is important to note that this figure is part of the large distribution. The volume for this period is +5%. Another contributing factor is proximity stores, with an increase of +7% and 13%.

 

The Brands

Bombay Sapphire (Bacardi Martini) and Tanqueray (Diageo), are strong representatives of the premium market, the success of these brands, +15% and +52% respectively. Their values grow faster than the volume. They enjoyed a +12% turnover in the course of last year (more than 80 million euros). Pink gin has two strong representatives: Bosford (Bacardi-Martini) and Gordon’s (MHD). Other brands such as Gibson’s (La Martiniquaise) and Beefeater (Pernod Ricard) should contribute to the evolution of this sector, which represents only 1% of the market. In figures, 50,000 litres of pink gin were sold.
